Unexpected way people are making their car smell good for a year

Send Push

If there is one thing you can count on from a car air freshener, it's that it wont last for more than a few weeks. No matter if you're getting one for free when getting your car washed, or from the supermarket, air fresheners just don't seem to last very long in a vehicle.

Hanging fresheners, vent clips and little gel tubs that you place in the car's cup holders might smell lovely and fresh for a week, but after that you're back with unpleasant lingering odours from family pets or smelly food. Something as simple as a smell can really help boost a drivers mood, which is leading people to try and find new ways to make their vehicles smell good.

One TikTok user, Sanah, who posts under the handle @zsanahbananana, posted a video on the social media channel after finding a way to make her car smell better for longer.

Sanah headed to British high street brand, Lush, and picked up a bright pink and purple bath bomb - but she didn't plan on it getting anywhere near her bathroom.

As she unpackaged the item from a paper bag, writing over the video said "Lush bath bombs work better than car air fresheners xx".

The video then shows her putting the item back in the bag before heading to her Black Volkswagen Polo.

She put the lush bag into her glove box before closing the door. Writing on the screen read "she's locked in, see you next year".

Hundreds of people posted in the comments section hailing Sanah's idea "clever" and "smart".

One user said: "This is SO clever the scent really does last so long and actual car fresheners be like… three months at most."

Another said: "I don’t have a bath so I'm glad I can finally get use of a lush bath bomb."

A third user, who used to work at Lush said: "I used to work at Lush and my car would smell like Lush from my apron/clothes, LOL."

Another person said they had used a Lush bath bomb in another way. They said: "So smart! I had one in my clothing drawer for almost two years and the scent was still strong."

A fifth TikTok user said: "Omggg YOU'RE A GENIUS."
